Welcome to Cansler Photography. We are located in the Fortwood Historic District in downtown Chattanooga, TN. The studio resides in a house that was built in 1899 and has a charm that is impossible to duplicate in buildings of today.

The first floor serves as our offices and gallery with the second floor dedicated to different settings for photography. Having a wonderful old home like this one, allows us to create portraits with a timeless quality, in a natural setting. Even though we have many beautiful areas at and around the studio to photograph, we enjoy creating portraits on location. Either at our clients homes or at another location that has meaning for them.

1. Planning - What will your child wear? Will the portrait be in your home, in the studio, outdoors, or some other location? Will this be an interactive or storytelling portrait? These are all questions we discuss during your consultation before the day of the portrait session. This planning is necessary to insure that your portrait is created to fit your life-style and your decor.  2. Creativity - This is what keeps your portraits from looking like everyone else’s. We don’t just nail everything down and replace the faces with new ones. Your child is special, so you deserve a portrait that is just as special. How can we stay so creative? We get new ideas from each other, from clients and we are always looking for ways to change and improve beautiful portraits from the past.  3. Skill - At Cansler Photography improving our skill level is an on going process. Attending schools, seminars and conventions are all part of this process. Entering photographic print competitions keeps our skill level on the cutting edge.Brad is a Master Photographic Craftsman and has received many international awards. In addition, his work has been featured at Walt Disney’s EPCOT Center several times.  4. Imagination - You might think that we have already talked about everything that makes a portrait a work of art. But without imagination, those portraits are lifeless. Creating an image in your mind that doesn’t yet exist, that is the power of imagination. Recording that image is how we create works of art.  5.
